Leslie is a native of St. Louis, and now resides in the Skinker-Debalivier neighborhood with her daughter, Marley. She is distinguished alumnus of Hampton University, where she holds a Bachelor of Arts in English degree. She also has a Master of International Business from St. Louis University. Leslie serves on the Board of Directors for St. Louis Art Fair, St. Louis Public Schools Foundation, and Park Central Development.

Dr. Chaison graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with honors and a minor in Spanish in 1999, a Master of Arts in Program Evaluation in 2003, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology in 2006. Dr. Chaison completed both her pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship programs at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX where she was immediately hired as a staff psychologist upon completion of her training and where she continues to work today. Dr. Chaison serves and has received multiple awards for her local and national leadership roles in advocating for Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion within the Veterans Health Administration, America’s largest integrated health care system. Dr. Chaison is an assistant professor in the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and is actively involved in training the next generation of mental health providers and leaders. She is the 21st president of Harris Stowe State University and the first African American female in this role. She tells her story of how she broke the glass ceiling and what it took to do it on this episode.

Dr. LaTonia Collins Smith is the 21st President of Harris-Stowe State University. She is the first African American woman to serve the university in this role. Collins Smith has more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience with an extensive background in administration and program development. She began her career in higher education at Harris-Stowe State University in 2010 as a project coordinator in the Office of Counseling Services. She has also served the institution as provost and vice president of academic affairs, associate provost, assistant provost and as executive director of the Center for Career Engagement.

Dr. Collins Smith was the co-principal investigator of a $5 million National Science Foundation grant to substantially strengthen STEM in the state of Missouri, the largest grant in the history of Harris-Stowe. She currently serves as a peer reviewer for the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), the nation’s largest regional accreditation body. She also served as the campus team lead for the following initiatives; the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Re-Imagine First Year Project, the Strada Foundation Measuring College Value project, the Complete College America MSI Initiative, the Ascendium Project Success Initiative and the Gallup Alumni Survey Project.

Dr. Collins Smith serves as chair of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Statewide Celebration Commission of Missouri and board member for the Higher Education Consortium and Greater STL, Inc. She served on both the Alumni Board of Directors and Alumni Foundation Board for the University of Central Missouri. She is a member of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Gamma Omega Chapter.

Dr. Collins Smith has received several leadership and service awards including the Equal Education Opportunity Group Pioneer Award, Resilience in Action Merchant of Hope Award, Delux Magazine’s Power 100 in Education award, the 2022 NAACP Frankie Muse Freeman/Norman A. Seay Commitment to St. Louis Award, the NAACP Excellence in Education award, the NAACP Ben Hooks Community Leader award and the AKA Central Region’s Outstanding Educational Advancement Foundation Captain award. She is a 2019 Millennium Leadership Initiative Protégé, a St. Louis Business Diversity Initiative Fellow and a Higher Education Leadership Foundation Fellow.

A native of the Historic Ville Neighborhood in St. Louis. Collins Smith is a proud graduate of St. Louis Public Schools. James Ihedigbo was an undrafted Free Agent in the NFL in 2007 out of the University of Massachusetts where he graduated with a BA degree in Sociology. Through his hard work and determination he earned a 10-year NFL Career, and Super bowl Champion. Ihedigbo began his career with the New York Jets, New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions and finished with the Buffalo Bills. Ihedigbo won the Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens in 2012. James launched his own foundation, Hope Africa USA in 2009 which helps students of African Decent receive educational scholarships, college prep courses and assistance to ensure all students get the best possible help and guidance along their college journey. His foundation and their efforts have helped over 50 students across the country pay for college tuition. Ihedigbo has since transitioned on from a stellar career in the NFL moving into an entrepreneurial career. As he and his wife Brittany own and operate four Kiddie Academy Child Care preschools in and around the Houston area. Providing care and early childhood education to over 1500 families in the greater Houston area. James’ focus is teaching and educating others about leadership, teamwork and how to be successful not only in the workplace but in life overall. Bishop Geoffrey V. Dudley, Sr., PhD, D.Min. is from Goldsboro, NC and is the youngest of 11 children from the union of the late Bishop Leamon Dudley, Sr. & the late Mrs. Ida Dorothy Dudley. He gave his life to Christ when he was 12 and began ministry at the early age of 13. He grew up in the United Holy Church of America, Inc. He was ordained by the UHC in 1986. In order to serve as a chaplain in the United States Air Force, he changed denominations and became an ordained Elder in the Church of God in Christ in 1989. He is a retired Air Force Chaplain, Lieutenant Colonel, and in his 21 ½ years of service he has lived and ministered in many states and several countries. He diligently pursued formal education to prepare for a lifetime of ministry.
